Two teenagers drown in Meghadrigedda Reservoir

Two teenagers who had gone fishing at the Meghadrigedda Reservoir drowned on Sunday (September 7). The deceased were identified as B. Shekhar (18) and Yedada Lakshman Kumar (18), both from Pendurthi. Inspector of Pendurthi police station K Satish Kumar said three youth, Shekhar, Lakshman Kumar and B. Vasu, were contract workers at the dockyard. Around 1 p.m., when they were fishing, Shekhar and Lakshman accidentally slipped into the water and drowned. On being alerted, the police launched a search with the help of swimmers and the bodies were retrieved. The bodies were sent for post-mortem examination. Mr. Satish Kumar said despite repeated warnings, people continue to enter the reservoir.
