The India International Knit Fair will be held in Tiruppur from September 17 to 19 showcasing sustainable garments and eco-friendly technologies.

“The whole world wants environment-friendly garments and Tiruppur is geared up to make green garments,” chairman of India Knit Fair Association A. Sakthivel told the media in Tiruppur on Saturday (September 6, 2025).

The theme of the event will be “Knitting a Greener Planet Sustainability and ESG Leadership”.

Mr. Sakthivel said the event is important as India recently signed a Free Trade Agreement with the U.K. and is expected to sign one with the European Union by the end of this year.

While India’s annual garment exports are worth about $ 17 billion, Bangladesh exports close to $ 45 billion. This is mainly because Bangladesh has duty free access to the U.K. and the EU.

Regarding India – U.S. relationship, Mr. Sakthivel said he expected the tariff to be reduced drastically. “This will get resolved in another two to three week’s” he said.
