T.N. government to felicitate Ilaiyaraaja at event in Chennai on September 13

The Chief Minister M.K. Stalin-led Tamil Nadu government will honour music composer Ilaiyaraaja at a felicitation event scheduled to be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium on Saturday (September 13, 2025).

At the event, Mr. Ilaiyaraaja is set to lead a symphony, an official release issued by the State government on Tuesday said. Besides Mr. Stalin and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, actors Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan are among those who are expected to participate in the function.

It may be recalled that Mr. Stalin had in March this year announced that the Tamil Nadu government would felicitate Mr. Ilaiyaraaja on his musical journey spanning half a century. The Chief Minister made the announcement soon after Mr. Ilaiyaraaja returned to Chennai after his successful symphony performance in London.
