Moulivakkam Police arrested three suspects who allegedly stole gold jewellery and cash after breaking into a house in Madanandapuram.
Police said the complainant N. Ramasamy, 61, of Balaraj Nagar, Madanandapuram lodged a complaint alleging that on the night of August 28, he left for his friend’s place after locking his house. The next morning, he returned and found the lock on the front door broken and unidentified persons had stolen 46 sovereigns and ₹ 6.5 lakh.
A special team traced the suspects after scrutinising CCTV footage and fingerprints. On September 6, three were nabbed near Kolapakkam Government Higher Secondary School. The arrested have been identified as Chinnathambi alias Alert, 24, Rajesh, 24, and a juvenile from Koyambedu. Police recovered 34.25 sovereigns of jewellery and ₹45,500 in cash. The two men were remanded in Puzhal prison, while the juvenile was sent to a home.
