Signs MoU

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between SSM College of Arts and Science, Dindigul, and Arul Anandar College, Karumathur, Madurai. Principals N. Sampathkumar and M. Anbarasu have signed on behalf of their institutions. It enables both institutions to collaborate with each other through utilisation of laboratory resources, article publications, conduct of symposiums, seminars, workshops, and conferences.

Special meeting held

Citizen Consumer Forum of V.V.Vanniaperumal College for Women, Virudhunagar, organised a special meeting.

During the meeting, Public Distribution Officer and Consumer Protection Officer, Virudhunagar Taluk, C. Latcham, spoke on “Awareness about the Possession of Ration Cards”. Addressing the grievances raised by the participants regarding ration cards, he assured them that their issues would be resolved immediately. District Citizen Consumer Forum Coordinator, Virudhunagar, Mohamed Ezhiya spoke on “Consumer Awareness”.

Inaugural ceremony

The inaugural ceremony of Balvatika Classes was held at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Karaikudi.

Director, CECRI and Chairman, Vidyalaya Management Committee (VMC), Kendriya Vidyalaya Karaikudi, K. Ramesha was the chief guest.

Additional Superintendent of Police, Karaikudi, Ashish Puniya, IPS, Former Deputy Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, M. Rajeshwari, and chief scientist and chairman (Nominee), VMC, J. Mathiyarasu, were the guests of honour.

Principal Nand Lal Jangid welcomed. Headmistress C. Koppi Nachammai explained the objectives and significance of Balvatika classes. Teacher V. Subramanian proposed a vote of thanks.

Chess Tournament

The MEPCO Sports Academy 1st International FIDE-Rated Open Chess Tournament 2026 was held at the MEPCO Schlenk Engineering College Campus, Sivakasi.

Correspondent A. Tenzing inaugurated. HoD T. Revathi welcomed. Director K. Devaraju presented the objectives and achievements of MEPCO Sports Academy. Secretary, Sivakasi Chess Sparklers, N. Narendran Kamak, and Treasurer A.C. Ganesh and among others, were present.

On another day valedictory ceremony was held. Joint Secretary, Tamil Nadu State Chess Association P. Pragadesh was the chief guest. President, Virudhunagar District Chess Association A. Gopalsamy was, the guest of honour.

Prasanna (Chennai) emerged as champion and received a cash prize of â‚č70,000. Abjith secured second place with â‚č50,000 cash prize. Girinath was in third place with â‚č35,000 cash prize.

SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT

The Department of Tamil, G.T.N. Arts College, organised a one-day basic training programme on ‘Rights of Women’ with sponsorship from the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), New Delhi, to create awareness on women’s rights, gender equality and legal protection.

Associate Professor V. Kavitha welcomed. Principal (i/c) M. Inbalakshimi presided, while Convener S. Sujatha outlined the objectives of the programme. Principal, G.T.N. Law College, Dindigul, P.S. Srinivasan was present. A training manual prepared for the programme was released during the event.

Secretary and Correspondent K. Rethinam and Director R. Durai felicitated. Associate Professor K. Santhini proposed a vote of thanks.
