The Chennai police held a preliminary enquiry with actor Krishna on Wednesday in connection with the cocaine case in which actor Srikanth was arrested on June 23.

The enquiry with actor Krishna comes in the wake of summons issued to him on Tuesday based on the confession given by one of the accused in the case, Pradeep Kumar.

A senior police official said actor Krishna has denied using drugs because he has severe allergy to them since 2018 and was also undergoing treatment for a heart condition. He had also denied knowing Pradeep Kumar and told police that he was on friendly terms only with actor Srikanth.

After the enquiry, actor Krishna would be taken for a medical examination and a search would be conducted in his house for any evidence of possession of narcotics.

The cocaine case comes in the wake of Nungambakkam police arresting Pradeep Kumar, alias Prado, 38, of Salem, and John, 38, a Ghanaian national, after they were found in possession of 11 grams of cocaine on June 17.

The police had arrested actor Srikanth based on Pradeep informing that he supplied drugs to a former AIADMK functionary, who had sold the cocaine to the actor last month. The police had launched a case after a clash between two groups at a bar in Nungambakkam on May 5.
