The postmortem report of B. Ajith Kumar of Sivaganga, a temple security guard who died in police custody, has revealed the presence of over 44 external injuries and several internal injuries in various parts of the body.
The general appearance section of the report says there was a linear scar measuring 3 cm in length in the right forearm, and three old scars, “consistent with cigarette burn marks”.
The autopsy, performed at the Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai on June 29, revealed several abrasions and contusions caused by thrashings and kickings.
Starting from an abrasion with a dark red scab measuring 1 cm x 1 cm on the right side of the forehead, injuries were detected on almost all parts of the body.
Several incisions were found on the arms, knee, foot and gluteal region.

“Focal areas of subdural and subarachnoid haemorrhage noted over both sides of parietal and left temporal region. Multiple petechial haemorrhages noted on biparietal lobes of brain,” the report said.

Further, the cut section of the brain appeared congested, it added.
With regard to the heart, the report said petechial haemorrhage was noted over posterior wall of left ventricle. Haemorrhage was noted over pulmonary trunk near the left lower pulmonary vein. Similar haemorrhages were found in the stomach region, too.
However, the chemical histopathological examiner’s report is awaited.
