The Malayalee Club in collaboration with Chettur Foundation, observed the 168th birth anniversary of Sir Chettur Sankaran Nair on Friday in Chennai.
Sir Chettur Sankaran Nair, jurist and former President of the Indian National Congress, served as President of the Malayalee Club from 1912 to 1924. He is remembered for resigning from the Viceroy’s Executive Council in protest against the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
The event opened with a welcome address by N. R. Panicker, president, The Malayalee Club.
Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, Minister for Information Technology and Digital Services, Government of Tamil Nadu, delivered the keynote address. M. K. Narayanan, IPS (Retd), former national security adviser and former governor of West Bengal, delivered the felicitation address. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by P. N. Ravi, secretary, The Malayalee Club.
