Ahead of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay’s Statewide tour in September, the party is set to host its second State conference in Madurai on August 25.

Announcing this in a post on X, Mr. Vijay on Wednesday said: “Let history repeat itself. Victory is certain.” The party’s general secretary N. Anand participated in the planting of a ceremonial wooden pole at the proposed venue at Koodakovil near Thirumangalam.

In its executive committee meeting held earlier this month, the party had made it clear it would never align with the BJP or the DMK. The party announced Mr. Vijay as its chief ministerial face for the 2026 election and authorised him to take decisions on matters of alliance.

Earlier this week, Mr. Vijay led a protest in Chennai demanding justice for the victims of custodial deaths that took place in Tamil Nadu in the last four years of the DMK regime. Last year, on October 27, the party hosted its inaugural State conference at V. Salai near Vikkravandi in Villupuram district.
