The inflow to Hogenakkal touched 1.15 lakh cusecs in the forenoon of Monday. The Cauvery water inflow at Biligundulu saw a sharp rise shortly after 6 a.m., when the central water gauging station in Krishnagiri recorded 1.05 lakh cusecs. The flow in the Cauvery saw a spike since Friday, with Karnataka announcing an increase in the outflow from its reservoirs.
As of Monday, the Krishna Raja Sagar reservoir in Karnataka had touched 123.6 ft of its total 124.8-ft capacity. The outflow from the reservoir was 76,535 cusecs. Similarly, the outflow from the Kabini reservoir rose, with 40,000 cusecs being released. Its capacity touched 81.97 ft of its total 84 ft. As of Monday, a total of 1.20 lakh cusecs was being released into the Cauvery from these reservoirs.
Due to the rise in water level at Hogenakkal, the district administration issued a ban on bathing in the river on Saturday here.
