An unidentified man was found dead with injuries at Chinnampalayam in Pollachi on Thursday. The police said that the deceased is suspected to be in his 30s and had the alphabet ‘S’ tattooed on his right arm.
Ragpickers found the corpse lying in thickets on the side of a road on Thursday morning. The Pollachi Town (East) police rushed to the spot after receiving an alert. The corpse had injuries near the right eye and on the neck.
Sub-inspector R. Gowtham said that the deceased did not carry any document or mobile phone to trace his identity. The body was shifted to the mortuary of the Government Medical College and ESI Hospital in Coimbatore for post-mortem examination.
The police registered a case under Section 194 (police to enquire and report on suicide, etc.) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and launched an investigation.
Mr. Gowtham said that the cause of death would be known only after the post-mortem examination.
