A special team of police has launched investigation to trace and arrest the suspects in the murder of a real-estate businessman who was hacked to death by a gang in Thiruverkadu.
A senior officer of Avadi City Police said efforts are on to trace the suspects and soon they would be nabbed.
The deceased victim was identified as Sivakumar 47, a resident of TDS Nagar in Thiruverkadu who was a real estate businessman. He used to travel by auto daily to a private school in Paruthipattu to bring back his two daughters and son. Police believe the killers had been monitoring his daily activities. On Friday evening while on his way to pick up his children from school in an autorickshaw, he stopped and got down to attend nature’s call. The unidentified men on a motorbike who was following him attacked him with machetes and fled the scene. The auto driver also drove away in panic, police sources said. The police suspect financial disputes in his real estate dealings may have led to the murder.
