A 28-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her friend who later ended his life in her residence at Thirupalya in Bengaluru on August 6.

The incident came to light when her parents, who stay in the neighbourhood, overheard a commotion and rushed to her house. They found her lying in a pool of blood, and the accused was also found dead.

The deceased has been identified as Mandira Mondal and the accused is Suman Mondal. Manidra was married to Bijon Mondal eight years ago. The couple, with their son, moved to Bengaluru from their native West Bengal in search of a job.

A probe revealed that the couple separated two years ago. Since then, Mandira had been working as a labourer and living with her son.

Suman and Bijon were friends. They had gone to Andaman in search of jobs. Suman returned recently and visited Mandira on August 6 while she was alone and her son was with her parents.

Police suspect that the duo got into an argument, which resulted in the killing of Mandira, following which Suman also ended his life.

The police are trying to ascertain the reason for the murder.
