Uyir Club volunteers, mentors honoured for road safety activities in Coimbatore

Coimbatore City Commissioner of Police A. Saravana Sundar on Friday felicitated colleges that were selected as ‘best road safety volunteering institutions’ by ‘Uyir’, a city-based non-governmental organisation involved in road safety activities.

Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology, Sri Krishna College of Arts and Science, Hindusthan College of Arts and Science, Dr. NGP College of Arts and Science, Rathinam College of Arts and Science, Rathinam Tech Campus, and Suguna College of Arts and Science were selected as the best road safety volunteering institutions. The Commissioner also felicitated 41 Uyir Club mentors for their commitment and contributions to road safety volunteering.

Mr. Sundar commended principals, Uyir Club volunteers and mentors for their efforts in creating road safety awareness and promoting behavioural change within the community. He urged the volunteers to raise awareness among both students and the general public on the importance of wearing helmets and seatbelts.

Ashok Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic); K. Balasubramaniyan, Education Coordinator, Uyir; and R. Thirumoorthi, Project Consultant, Uyir were present.
