The Lokayukta police on Wednesday arrested Bantwal Deputy Tahsildar and two others for allegedly taking ₹20,000 as bribe for issuing Pouti Khata related to a land.

The officials arrested Deputy Tahsildar Rajesh Naika, case worker Santosh, and Ganesh, a broker, for offences under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

In a statement, the Lokyukta police said the complainant had applied for the Pouti Khata of the land belonging to her mother in Sajipa Munnooru village in 2021. The Deputy Commissioner allowed the application and directed Bantwal Tahsildar to issue Pouti Khata. The file was pending in the office of Tahsildar since April 2025.

When the complainant enquired about the file, case worker Santosh demanded ₹1,500, and Deputy Tahsildar Naika demanded ₹20,000 for issuing the Khata. The Lokayukta police arrested Naika while he was allegedly receiving ₹20,000 from broker Ganesh Vamadapadavu.
