The Puttur Rural police have arrested M. Dayanand Naika, 29, of Nettanige Mudnur village, for his alleged involvement in the theft of 31 grams of gold ornaments and ₹5,000 cash from a house on August 12.

In a statement, the police said Naika was arrested from a hideout in Eshamangala village in Puttur taluk. The police recovered 30.120 grams of gold ornaments from the accused. The accused was arrested by the team led by sub-inspector Jamburaj Mahajan. The team comprised assistant sub-inspector Chandrashekar; head constables Praveen, Madhu, Harish, Subrahmanya; police constables Akash, Yuvaraj, Sharanappa Patil; and reserve sub-inspectors Yagjna, H.G. Hariprasad and H.G. Nitesh.

Absconding accused

The Bellare police have arrested Unmesh from a hideout in Kerala. Unmesh was an accused in a theft case of 2020. He had failed to appear before the jurisdictional court for several days, and hence a non-bailable warrant had been issued.
