A new police station at Moulivakkam was inaugurated on Friday (August 22, 2025). This is the 29th police station under the Avadi Police Commissionerate, and it was opened by Small, Micro and Medium Enterprises and Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board Minister T.M Anbarasu.

It was formed by bifurcating the Mangadu police station. A release said the new station was established due to population increase, crime control needs, and to help the public contact police easily and receive services quickly.

This station will cover about 20 sq. km, including Moulivakkam, Periyapanicheri, Kolapakkam, Gerugambakkam, Muglivakkam, areas of the Chennai Corporation in Moulivakkam and Madhanandapuram and adjoining areas. The station will function with 81 personnel, including one Inspector, two Sub-Inspectors, two Head Constables, nine Grade I Constables, and 17 Grade II Constables, as appointed by the Avadi Police Commissioner.

Avadi City Police Commissioner K. Shankar, Additional Commissioner K. Bhavaneeswari, Kanchipuram District Collector Kalaiselvi Mohan, Avadi Police Deputy Commissioner Feroze Khan Abdullah, and police personnel were present.
