The Madhavaram police have arrested five men on charges of peddling drugs and seized LSD stamps and 23 MDMA tablets from their possession.
The suspects have been identified as Aishwar, 29; Abishek, 25, of Madhavaram; Lingeshwaran, 25, of Tondiarpet; Vasantharaj, 30, of Perambur; and Ricky, 30, of Thirumullaivoyal.
Based on a tip-off from the Anti-Narcotic Intelligence Unit (ANIU), the Madhavaram police mounted surveillance near the playground at Arul Nagar on Friday and intercepted the five persons. On searching their belongings, the police seized the contraband, besides a two-wheeler, five mobile phones, and two weighing machines.
