Working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) K.T. Rama Rao has accused the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), ruling the State and the Centre, respectively, of colluding for working against the State’s interests.

Speaking at a party meeting organised to admit a few leaders from BJP here on Monday, he alleged that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had an understanding to push Telangana’s future in danger. A few BJP leaders including Aluri Vijayabharathi joined BRS in the presence of senior leaders including P. Sabitha Indra Reddy and A. Jeevan Reddy.

The so-called rivalry between Congress and BJP was a façade as the two parties were united in betraying Telangana in practice, Mr. Rama Rao said and remarked that Mr. Revanth Reddy would carry a pair of scissors always as he was very much eager to cut ribbons for buildings constructed during the BRS rule. The distorted manner in which Mr. Revanth Reddy would speak only makes people laugh at him.

On the irrigation front, Mr. Rama Rao accused Mr. Revanth Reddy of conspiring to damage the Kaleshwaram project under the instructions of Mr. Modi and Mr. Naidu. He was also working to divert Godavari water to Andhra Pradesh and eventually to Tamil Nadu under the directions of the two. “That is why Mr. Revanth Reddy holds a grudge against Kaleshwaram”, Mr. Rama Rao said and described it as part of a larger plot dictated by the Centre.

Holding the Congress squarely responsible for the ongoing urea crisis, the BRS leader criticised Mr. Revanth Reddy for holding meetings with film personalities when farmers were in distress. He ridiculed BJP MPs for justifying the shortage by citing “Operation Sindoor” and China and asked whether India was at war with China.

He observed that that Mr. Revanth Reddy’s political conduct of being friendly with the Prime Minister without getting any benefit to the State clearly showed he was heading towards an open alliance with Mr. Modi. “This will ultimately land a heavy blow on Rahul Gandhi and his political ambitions”, Mr. Rama Rao said.

He also went on to highlight a series of betrayals by the BJP and said the Centre scrapped the ITIR project that could have created lakhs of jobs, shifted the Defence Corridor from Hyderabad to Bundelkhand and diverted over â‚č10,000 crore investments from Kaynes and Micron to Gujarat. Telangana, he said, was even being denied basic institutions such as Navodaya schools, IIMs and medical colleges.
