Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation Limited (Keltron) is set to enter the Zimbabwean market. The public sector undertaking has signed an agreement with the African nation to supply its products and services.
Zimbabwe’s Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce Rajesh Kumar Indukant Modi handed over the purchase order to State Industries Minister P. Rajeeve at a function in Kochi on Friday (August 29, 2025). The agreement was reached between Keltron and Zimbabwe-based Zindia.
“As per the initial agreement, Keltron will manufacture and supply 3,000 laptops under its Coconics brand to Zimbabwe,” Mr. Rajeeve said. Other products to be supplied are traffic lights, solar systems, and knowledge services.
Keltron has also expressed interest in establishing a skill development centre, a knowledge-sharing centre, and an assembly unit in Zimbabwe.
Later, addressing the media, the Zimbabwean Minister said that his country offered a promising destination for Indian investors, especially from Kerala, in sectors such as affordable footwear, leather goods, consumer electronics assembly, solar equipment, agro-processing, and rail rehabilitation.
