Tribal families of the Urali community from Asithikombai in Kadambur Hills have petitioned the Erode district administration to issue pattas for their land and remove encroachments along the pathway leading to their habitation.

Residents of Guthiyalathur Panchayat came to the collectorate during the weekly grievance day meeting on Monday (September 1, 2025) and submitted two petitions. They said 25 families have been living in the hamlet for generations, but the pathway connecting it to the tar-topped road at Osapalayam had been encroached upon by members of another community. As a result, they were unable to access their homes and sought immediate steps to retrieve the pathway.

Another petition also pointed out that despite submitting over 100 petitions in recent years, their demand for pattas had not been fulfilled. “Though we pay property tax and electricity bills, pattas have not been issued to us,” they said, adding that their most recent representation was made on June 16, 2025, but no action had followed. The families urged the administration to act on both demands without further delay.
