Two students from Hyderabad were killed and at least five others were injured in a road accident in Essex, United Kingdom, early on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Chaitanya Tarre, 21, of Nadergul, and Rishiteja Rapolu, 22, of Uppal.
The Essex police said that the collision involving two cars was reported on the Dual Carriageway A130 at Rayleigh Spur roundabout, and the drivers of both vehicles, aged 23 and 24, were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
As per information from international media reports, the accident was reported when a group of nine students, all reportedly from Telangana, were returning home in two cars after attending Ganesh immersion celebrations.
Chaitanya died at the scene, while Rishiteja succumbed to injuries in hospital.
The injured were admitted to the Royal London Hospital, where condition of two is said to be critical. While one of them is reportedly on ventilator, another student has suffered partial paralysis.
Hyderabad police officials stated that the families of the deceased have not yet sought assistance from local authorities.
