Customs officials seize smuggled drones at Coimbatore airport

Officials of the Air Intelligence Unit of Airport Customs Office at Coimbatore International Airport intercepted three passengers on Thursday (September 4) based on specific intelligence and seized drones worth ₹23 lakh from them.

Official sources said the passengers – Prabakaran Selvarasu of Cuddalore, Avinash Rajagopalan of Thiruvarur, and Paranthaman Marudhapandian of Villupuram – arrived at the airport from Singapore by Scoot TR – 540. They had in their hand baggage, drones, mikes, transmitters and charging case valued at totally ₹23 lakh. The officials said appropriate legal action was under the Customs Act, 1962 against the three passengers for attempting to smuggle contraband goods.
