Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday resumed jan sunwayi (public hearing of grievances) programme, a fortnight after she was attacked at a similar programme, amid heightened security arrangements at her camp office in Civil Lines.
The security arrangements included police frisking participants with metal detectors and monitoring the proceedings through CCTV cameras and facial recognition systems. Police personnel, including female security staff, formed an inner ring around the CM as she conducted the programme, unlike in the past when she mingled freely with people. She was seated on a chair with a red rope barrier demarcating a line not to be crossed, while members of the public came up one by one to raise their grievances.
A man from Gujarat’s Rajkot attacked Ms. Gupta during a programme on August 20.
