Around six occupants of an autorickshaw, including its driver, had a narrow escape after the vehicle was swept away by swirling waters in a swollen stream at Satwajiguda village in Indervelli mandal of Adilabad district on Wednesday.

According to sources, the incident occurred when the autorickshaw driver was attempting to cross a flooded low-level causeway in the forest stretch near Satwajiguda late on Wednesday afternoon. Some passersby intervened on time and rescued all the occupants of the autorickshaw, sources added.

Meanwhile, Pranahita river was in spate in Kumuram Bheem Asifabad district following heavy rains that lashed parts of the river’s catchment areas on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. Sources added that vehicular movement at Venkatraopet village in Sirpur (T) mandal was disrupted after a swollen stream inundated a portion of the road near the village.
