The Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department is all set to lay the foundation stone for new Gram Panchayat (GP) and Anganwadi buildings, across the State, as the site identification process has gathered pace, thanks to the efforts of Minister Seethakka.
The department has set a target of constructing two GP buildings and two Anganwadi centre buildings in each mandal, with a total of 1,144 GP buildings and 1,148 Anganwadi buildings by next March. As of now, sites have been identified for 813 Anganwadi buildings and 549 GP buildings.
Ms. Seethakka said that the previous BRS government had neglected the construction of these buildings. However, the department has made significant progress in identifying sites and is confident of completing the construction work on time.
Each GP building will be constructed at a cost of âč20 lakh through the NREGS, while Anganwadi buildings will be constructed at a cost of âč12 lakh, funded by NREGS, 15th Finance Commission, and Women and Child Welfare Department. The Panchayat Raj Engineering Department has been tasked with creating unique designs for GP buildings and Anganwadi buildings.
She expressed confidence that the construction work will be completed by next March, giving villages a new look.
