A 25-year-old engineering student was killed after the two-wheeler in which he was riding rammed into a concrete barricade on Rajiv Gandhi Salai on Sunday.
A senior official of the City Traffic Police said R. Prasanthraj, a resident of Bengaluru, had come to the city to visit his friends. He along with R. Vasanthakumar and M. Ameer Udeen, both from Chengalpattu district, went to Elliots Beach in Besant Nagar on Saturday night.
After consuming liquor, Ameer Udeen was returning home to Madipakkam in Prasanthraj’s two-wheeler with Vasanthakumar riding pillion. On Rajiv Gandhi Salai, Ameer lost control of the bike and dashed into the concrete barricade located near the government polytechnic college in Taramani. In the accident both Ameer and Vasanthakumar fell from the vehicle.
Vasanthakumar died on the spot after sustaining severe injury in the head. Ameer sustained fracture in his leg and was taken to the Government Royapettah Hospital for treatment.Â
The Guindy Traffic Investigation police sent the body of Vasanthakumar to Government Royapettah Hospital for postmortem. The police have filed a case and are investigating.
