Amit Shah offers prayers at Rajarajeswara Temple amid tight security

Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the Sri Rajarajeswara Temple at Taliparmba, Kannur, and offered prayers on Saturday (July 12, 2025).

Mr. Shah, who arrived amid tight security at the Kannur airport by 4.50 p.m. in a special flight, after attending an event in Thiruvanathapuram, received a huge reception at Mattanur. A large number of people gathered along the road through which his convoy passed to reach the temple.

He was accompanied by BJP State president Rajeev Chandrasekhar. Earlier party State vice-president C. Sadanandan Master, Hindu Aikyavedi State working president Valsan Thillankeri, former BJP district president P. Sathyaprakashan, and others welcomed him at the airport.

From the airport, Mr. Shah travelled by car to the temple, reaching the premises by 5.45 p.m. He was welcomed by the temple authorities and senior BJP leaders. After offering prayers at the temple, he returned to the airport by 6.45 p.m. and departed for New Delhi at 7.15 p.m.

Security was tightened across Taliparamba and surrounding areas in connection with the Union Minister’s visit.
