The mother of a youth who was fatally knocked down by two Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel near the Cochin international airport on May 14 following an alleged road rage, has approached the Kerala High Court seeking to cancel the bail granted to Mohan Kumar, 31, who had been arrayed as the second accused in the case.

Contending that the bail order issued by the Additional Sessions Court, Ernakulam, was illegal, Rose Mary Jijo, mother of Ivin Jijo, the victim, said that her son was not only physically assaulted during the confrontation, but was also hit by a car driven by Vinaya Kumar Das, 28, who had been arraigned as the first accused in the case.

The second accused actively abetted the act, and both were well aware that their actions were likely to cause death or grievous bodily harm to the youth and hence were not merely passengers in the vehicle. The CISF personnel were aware of the consequences of their acts, she said.

The CISF personnel who were attached to the Air Security Group of the force at the airport, had been remanded to the Aluva sub-jail following the incident.
