Authorities of the Srisailam project closed the crest gates on Tuesday following decreased inflows into the dam from the upstream catchment areas. Though the radial crest gates were closed, the officials were releasing water for irrigation projects and power generation. The project had 200.1971 tmc ft water against its capacity of 215 tmc ft. The water level reached 882.20 feet against the dam’s full reservoir level (FRL) of 885 feet. The project received good inflows this season and four gates were lifted on July 8 by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
