BJP leader and Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje, who is also the MP for Bengaluru North, has written to Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari appealing to connect the arterial road running through Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout (NPKL) with the Bengaluru-Mysuru National Highway. The letter follows a memorandum by NPKL Open Forum, an association of site allottees in the Layout.

“This arterial road serves as a vital corridor linking Magadi Road and Mysuru Road, and is crucial for access to the Challaghatta Metro Station, Raja Rajeshwari Medical College, and other key destinations. At present, motorists may only enter or exit the highway at Kumbalagodu or Bidadi, resulting in significant detours, increased travel time, and added fuel consumption. The absence of direct access is causing considerable inconvenience to residents, commuters, and emergency services,” she wrote, highlighting the urgent need for improved connectivity.

In the letter, the Union Minister requested Mr. Gadkari to “examine the feasibility of constructing up and down ramps to directly connect the arterial road with the Bengaluru-Mysuru National Highway”, arguing that such an intervention “would greatly enhance accessibility, reduce congestion on service roads, and improve the overall mobility for residents and institutions in the area.”
