Anna Square Police has arrested a 33-year-old from Uttar Pradesh for sexually harassing a woman police constable near Madras University campus.
Police said on Sunday night, the woman constable attached to Tambaram city police came to Marina beach along with her friend. Later, she and her friend were waiting to board a bus near Madras University. An unidentified person came on a two-wheeler and neared the bus stop and made inappropriate gestures. As the woman constable scolded him, he moved away, but came back minutes later and attempted to sexually harass her. However, he escaped when she attempted to nab him. Later she lodged a complaint with Anna Square police.
On investigation, police arrested the suspect who has been identified as Deep Narayan Shukla, a native of Uttar Pradesh, now staying in Kodungaiyur.
