A cow was slaughtered and the carcass was abandoned in the field of K. Geetesh at Perne village of Bantwal taluk in Dakshina Kannada district on Thursday.
In the complaint, Geetesh said he saw his cow in the shed at 2.30 a.m. When he returned there at 6.30 a.m., he found the animal missing. He searched and found the carcass in his farm. He alleged that thieves stole the cow, slaughtered it, and made away with the meat.
The Uppinangady police registered a case under Sections 331 (4) and 305 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and Sections 4 and 5 of the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act.
